Can't Get Enough Of His Love

If I had to pick a song on this CD that's my favorite it would be "Can't get enough of His Love". I like the feel of the song, the way the words came together and what the song has to say. I had a lot of fun recording the song too so I suppose that's another reason I like it so much. Written by Jerry Corelli

Can’t Get Enough Of His Love
Written June 5, 1985
Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

1 Verse
Well, I’ve been up and I’ve been down.
I’ve seen the good and the bad.
Well, I guess I’ve been around.
And I know what it’s like when you don’t have a friend.
And I know what it’s like when the road has no end.

Chorus
Now on the solid rock I stand.
My feet are planted firm.
His saving grace has given me faith.
His flame will always burn.
No power on earth or Satan’s hand couldn’t keep me from His love.
Of all the things on this earth it’s His love… I can’t get enough of.
I can’t get enough of His love.

2 Verse
Well, I’ve felt pain and I’ve faced death, I’ve fought the fight.
When wrong was done to me I’d pray He’d make it right.
Poverty’s knocked more than once when relief was just in sight.
And I wonder how I ever got by without Jesus… in my life.

Palm Sunday

I wrote this song back in the 80's to discribe the events of "Palm Sunday". There didn't seem to be many songs written about Palm Sunday. At the time I registered the song with BMI it was only the eight song with that title. Now there are 16 with that title. Written by Jerry Corelli

Verse One
There came riding in on a Sunday,
on a warm nice day it was.
A man riding on a donkey,
he said he was the Son of God.

Well, the people they all shouted and cheered,
as the man came through the streets.
And they all laid down palm branches,
down before his feet.

Well, just a few days later,.. they crucified Him.
They nailed Him high on a Cross.
But, it had to happen on that day.
For Jesus' cleansing blood,.. it took our sins away.

Nation Of The Weak

"They have eyes, but they can't see. They're a part of the Nation of the weak". Throughout the song I wrote about how people think they are great and how they're greatness is compared to a mighty nation. But, the truth is that without Christ in their life they're only, or are part of, a nation of the weak. Written by Jerry Corelli

Verse 1
They have eyes, but they don’t see.
They have ears, but they don’t here,
They have mouths, but they don’t speak,
They’re a part of the nation of the weak.
Verse 2
They have hands, but they won’t give,
They have hearts, but they’re cold and lonely,
They have minds, but they don’t think,
They’re apart of the nation of the weak.
Verse 3
They have their gods, but the they’re silver and gold,
They have their books, but wisdom from man gets old,
They have their buildings, that can reach the highest peak,
They’re a part of the nation of the weak.
Verse 4
They have free will, but the free will is from man,
They have feet, but their feet won’t learn to stand,
They have their strength, but what they should be is meek,
They’re a part of the nation of the weak.

Faithless Among Men

Faithless among men first came to me from Joe McSorley. Joe is from England so the song was co-written on two continents. I love the style of this song and what it has to say. It's about so many people in the work who believe they are alive because they are breathing. But, in reality they aren't because they are without Christ in their heart.

Somethin's Happened To Me

I have a lot of favorites on this CD and "Somethin's Happened To Me" is certainly one of them. Of the many of the songs my good friend Kevin Mannarino and I have written together the lyrics in this song mostly came from Kevin. The first time I read the lyrics I knew the song would be special. This has been a great audience participation song and is always a song I sing live. Words & Music by Kevin Mannarino & Jerry Corelli

Verse 1
As I lay on his couch my psychiatrist said,
That emptiness you’re feelin’ is all in your head.
Still, I left his office without a clue,
Not knowing who I was or what I should do.

Chorus 1
Somethin’, somethin’, somethin’s gotta happen to me.
I didn’t know what it could be.
Somethin’, somethin’, somethin’s gotta happen to me.
I needed somethin’ it was plain to see.
On the left side, right side and all around.
From the top to the bottom, inside and out.
Somethin’, somethin’, somethin’s gotta happen to me.
But I didn’t know what it could be.

Verse 2
I thought my life was over and I started to run.
Then one day I found out that Jesus is the one.
So I prayed that the Lord would come into my life.
My sins were washed away and I stepped into His light.

Chorus 2
And somethin’, somethin’, somethin happened to me.
Jesus came into my life.
And somethin’, somethin’, somethin happened to me.
My sins have all been washed away.
On the left side, right side and all around.
From the top to the bottom, inside and out.
somethin’, somethin’, somethin happened to me.
That’s right Jesus set me free.

Verse 3
Now I believe in His Love with all of my heart.
Now my eyes are open and I made a new start.
He reached right into me and embraced my soul.
Now I’ve got to sing out to both young and old.
(Repeat Chorus 2)

I Believe In Jesus

"I Believe In Jesus" is downloaded regularly through Napster and others. The songs talks of what it took, and takes, for others to believe in Christ. I think the words are hard hitting and on the mark. In addition, the unmistakable electric guitars and Lead guitar of Chris Brekke impacts the song with a distinctive flare.

Stanza 1
It seems some need a sign to fall down from the sky.
And some need to read the writing on the wall.
Some don’t think it’s much unless it’s something they can touch.
But, I am here to tell you I believe.

Chorus
I believe in Jesus, that He died to free us.
I believe in His meekness and His wondrous love.
I believe in Jesus, in His power and greatness.
I believe in His kingdom and that He’s coming again.

Stanza 2
Ah, Moses needed a burning bush to convince him God was real.
And Paul had to be struck blind before his heart could truly feel.
But, all I need is the Word of God and His faith I have to see.
Cause, I’m here to tell you I believe.

I See You In Her Eyes

When my daughter turned 16 her mother and I didn't have much. She got a few gifts from friends and family and from her mother and I but the only gift I could give her was a song. So, I wrote this song to tell her how proud I was of her. You truly could see the Light of Christ in her eyes so that was my inspiration for this song. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

I see You in her eyes
Words by Jerry Corelli
Music by Jerry Corelli

Verse 1
She’s been blessed with her mother’s beauty.
Beyond her years the girl is wise.
She has a fire and a passion burning.
Lord, I see You in her eyes.

1 Refrain
Everyone she meets hears about You.
How they can live even when they die.
True love waits and she believes it.
Lord, I see You in her eyes.

Verse 2
Forgive me Lord, a father’s pride.
And delay to give her as a bride.
Bless her Lord, as she becomes a lady.
Lord, I see You in her eyes.

2 Refrain
Give her sight to see her beauty.
To always know You hold the prize.
I pray Your Word is her constant companion.
Lord, I see You in her eyes.

Verse 3
So many questions run through her mind.
So much to do and yet so little time.
In a world where darkness wears a Light disguise.
I still see You in her eyes.
(Repeat 1 Stanza)

Aren't You Ready

I was listening to one of my all time favorite Christian Artists the other day, Barry McGuire. The album was a live album "Barry McGuire and the Second Chapter of Acts". By the way I love Second Chapter of Acts too. Anyway, I hadn't heard the album in sometime and realized how much it was like going to church. I realized that my songwriting style is from the generation I grew up in. That is, my style of writing Christian songs, is meat and potatoes like what I was hearing from the Barry McGuire album. In other words Jesus loves you, he died on the cross for you, he rose again and defeated dead and your sins are forgiven. Therefore if you're not born again, if you haven't accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then, you're going to hell. That's what I call meat and potatoes Christian music. That's what most of the songs are like on this album. "Aren't You Ready" says it loud and clear.

Battle Song

This song has been a concert opener for years when I sing at churches, coffee houses and the like. It announces to the audience that "We're gonna have Church" and Satan isn't welcome. It proclaims there's a Spiritual battle to be raged so hold up your sword (Bible) high and let's kick Satan in the teeth. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli ~ Electric Guitars, Brett Helling

The Making of "With The Sword Held High"

Picture for back CD Cover taken 2000

I wanted to go into some detail about the making of "With The Sword Held High" and what the CD and the people who worked on it mean to me. It was about October of 1998 that I began working on the CD and it was finished and released in April of 2000.

First I'd like to talk about my cousin Brett Helling (Left) who, because of his fantastic producing and awesome guitar skills, really kicked the album off with a bang. The first song to be recorded on the album was "Battle Song". I had a really corny demo of the song that ran a couple minutes longer than the final CD version and I sent it to Brett. He called and said he loved the song and had some ideas for it. It was perhaps a week later and his demo came in the mail. I ripped the package open, put it in the player and couldn't believe what I was hearing. He put guitars everywhere, Bass, ryhthm, lead it was great. I felt that from that moment the album would turn into something really special.

Then along came the incorporable Chris Brekke (Left). Chris and I met after I had published a great song of his called "Trials of Faith". I recall us meeting at a coffee shop in Tacoma and the next thing I knew we were in the studio. He would come over and I'd review songs with him, burn a CD with two or three songs, and then he'd be back the following week with fantastic leads for the songs. It didn't take long for Chris to do the lead on the songs but once his guitar parts were finished his work transformed the album into something far better than I'd ever hoped.

When desiding what to do for the Cd's artwork I came across the idea to write out the first song on the CD, "Battle Song". I don't remember how long it took to write the song out in the shape of a sword but I liked it. Many people who get the CD don't realize at first that the sword is made up of words from "Battle Song".

A cool mix of musical styles and great songs!

It's refreshing to listen to a CD with so much variety like this one. To me, it's like the Christian/Contemporary equivalent to the Beatles' "White Album." It's jam-packed with great songs representing a wide range of styles. It's got something for everybody. Great CD!

Christmas Song

Christmas Song was one of the first Christmas songs I published. The original music didn't work for me and some phrases and words needed rearranging. So I contacted Earl and he agreed to let me do my thing to the song. Words & Music by Earl Andrew Richards & Jerry Corelli

I love this song's narrative. It's told from the view of one of the wise men and gives a different twist on the birth of Christ. Again, when I first heard the demo for this song I knew I wanted to record it.

Cowboy Christmas

The first time I heard the demo for this song I knew I wanted to record it. Very few songs come to me well written and recorded. I love songs that allow your mind to run a video as the songs progresses. Story telling in a song, as good as in Cowboy Christmas, seems a lost art today. But, Rosalie tells a wonderful story in this unique Christmas song that everyone should hear. Words & Music by Rosalie Glemann

On This Christmas Day

Sometimes inspiration for a song comes from the strangest places at the strangest times. I've been at restaurants and used a paper napkin to write out a song and other times driving down the highway. It was Christmas Eve and I was working as a clean up person for a meat cutting company. My mixture of soap would come out of a large nozzle and when I sprayed it over all of the stainless steal and cutting boards it would cover everything in a white foam.

Out of the blue I sang out, "It's starting to look like that time of the year,.." Being the only one who worked the clean up I immediately shut everything down and went into the break room to write down the words that I just sang. Throughout the evening I continued writing the song, got off work about 3 in the morning and finished the song by 6 in the morning on Christmas day. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

Peace At Christmas

Some years ago I was surfing the web for Christmas Songs & lyrics when I stumbled upon a company that held lyric contests. One of the songs, or lyrics, that caught my eye was called "Peace At Christmas". As I read the lyrics I could hear how I'd arrange the song and how the music and melody might go with the song. Now that happened in the morning and in the afternoon I always went to the post office to pick up the mail. That same afternoon I picked up the mail and one of the demos in the mail was that same song "Peace At Christmas".
I quickly opened it and put the demo in the player to hear the song I had just read the lyrics for earlier that day. The music, was to say the least, not at all what I had expected. So, I called the writer and asked if she would mind if I re-wrote the music and melody. She had no problem with it and all I can say is that, "It was meant to be." "A Corelli Christmas" artwork

When my son Alexander was a month away from his fifth birthday I asked him to draw a Christmas tree for me. He didn't know it but my plan was to use the drawing for the cd cover. It took a few years after he drew the picture that I'd be able to record the album but when it was finished I took his picture out and used it for the cover.

Happy Birthday Jesus

Like most people who love Christmas songs I have favorites. I can't tell you how much I enjoy the movie "White Christmas" and all the music in it. However, like all great songs, there must be over a hundred recordings of "White Christmas" from over a hundred different artists through the years. I knew I wanted to one day record a Christmas Album but I didn't want to record the standards. I mean let's face it, if you don't produce a better rendition of a classic song then everyone who hears it will compare the hit version to yours and the classic version always wins. Besides I'm a songwriter so what I wanted to do was record original Christmas songs.

"Happy Birthday Jesus" has become a Christmas hit for me. It remains my most downloaded song on Cdbaby and in indie circles it's becoming a classic. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

Love Filled Heart

As a songwriter who began writing songs when going into the studio cost a fortune, before there were home studios, I wrote over 100 songs. A pretty good percentage of those songs are good and out of those songs many are good enough to record. I've recorded many of those songs and have yet to record the rest. "Love Filled Heart" was written 20 some years ago and I debuted it in 2000 on the Seattle Praise the Lord Show. I taped the show and really liked the recording so I mixed it a bit and put it on the "Righteous Man" CD. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

There are so many times when I think I was born in the wrong era. I really love Big Band Crooner music. Did You See Him

Written by Rich Green this is not only his best song but I think one of the best songs I've ever heard, let alone recorded. It's a narrative about a person who tells the story of being there during Christ's life. Throughout the song he asks, "Did you see Him?" Did you see him perform that miracle? Did you see him die on the cross and raise from the dead? There's a musical interlude between the chorus and last verse that I wrote and has become one of my favorite creations. It really helps climax the song into a different level and finale.

I can easily picture this song in a play or movie musical about Christ's life and times.

Let There Be

I sat down to write a wedding song and wanted it to be distinctly Christian. So, I wrote it in first person as though God was telling how it all started and why. How would God do that? I then decided to go with the theme of the 6 days of creation. In doing that it also helps a person to get the days in order as to what was created in which order. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

All He Ever Wanted

I really love songs that tell a story and are written in the narrative. "All He Ever Wanted" tells the true story of a man who has found himself in jail and reflecting back on his life. That, it seems, is what you do in jail. He realizes that in the end all Christ really wanted from him was to love Christ as Christ loves us. What I like best about the lyrics is that the man in jail, in reflecting on his life and what he's done, isn't praying for God to get him out of trouble. Words & Music by Rich Green

The Rock

It was just after my life was beginning to go through a total melt down and I knew rough times were ahead of me. So I sat down with my guitar and wrote what I would call my theme song. The Rock was first recorded and released on my "Standing on the Rock" CD in 1998. My cousin, Brett Helling, recorded the fantastic Lead and Electric guitars in the song but I had always wanted a few more things done to the song. The first recording of The Rock is really good and that version can be heard in my Live Television performance I've put on YouTube. The newer version on "Righteous Man" has subtle effects of rain & thunder, back ground vocals and string arrangements, that at the time I first recorded the song, I couldn't do. I classify the song as Christian Rock or Soft Rock however others seem to classify it a Christian Country. However you classify it I hope you enjoy it. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

Great I Am

This wonderful song came to me from two songwriters in Decatur, IL who have a band called "OneChurch". The style and production of the song is distinctively different than their demo. Righteous Man

Do you see Jesus in the things you do and do you believe you're a righteous man? That was what I was thinking about when I wrote this song. I've met so many people who believed they were righteous in God's eyes. And caught myself thinking I was righteous in God's eyes too. I am a righteous man because of the blood of Christ and Jesus dieing on the cross for my sins. But, I'm not always a righteous man in my thoughts, words and deeds all the time or most of the time. So, this song it is a reminder for me to continue striving to be a righteous man in God's eyes. I don't strive to be a righteous man to go to heaven, that's work righteousness. I strive to be a righteous man because it's pleasing to God.

Jerry Corelli Vocal Style

My first vocal performance was at the age of 14 or 15. I had written a song that "Billy Master" of the "The Archers" had re-written with me and performed it with Billy at a Winter Camp in Colorado sponsored by the church I attended, Calvary Temple. This would been the Winter of 72 or 73. I must say the response I received was infectious and I was hooked. From there I began singing in "The Jazz Choir" at Byers Junior High. I was so blessed by learning from two teachers at Byers, Sonya Hall and Dorothy Winteringham. Sonya was the Jazz Choir teacher and allowed me to do solos of songs I'd written. Not sing them but do them during performances in the auditorium (pictured right) for the school. In the ninth grade Sonya had severe back problems and was out for many months. I wrote a song called, "Mrs. Hall" and was able to sing it during a special performance in which she was able to attend.

Then the day came when a friend, Jim Drake, introduced me to a singer's album who, Jim said, I sounded like. I'd never heard the singer before but was very attracted to the singer's voice and songwriting when I heard "Longfellow Serenade". I took the album home and when I returned it to Jim he gave me another album that hooked me as a forever fan of Neil Diamond. The album was the incomporable "Hot August Night" and from that moment on I would end up buying every Neil Diamond album there was and would come out to this day.

Neil Diamond's style of singing though was also the style of many other artists of the day. Singers like Barbara Streisand, Karen Carpenter, John Denver, Jim Croce and others had the same easy listening and smooth style in their vocals. At the time I listened those singers and others too like Frank Sinatra and my fav Bing Crosby. It didn't take long for just about everyone who listened to my voice to always ask me, "Do you know who you sound like?" After awhile my favorite come back would be, "Why yes, Barry Manilow." It was fun for me to look at the expression on their face when I would say that and then they would of course correct me by seriously say, "No, Neil Diamond." At first I felt forever cursed but after awhile I learned to live with it and accept that everyone has to sound like someone and took it as a complement.

Recording the Songs

All of the songs on "Grandfather Moon" were recorded at "Angels Dance Recording Studios" in Tacoma Washington but a few songs traveled 1500 miles to have some more work done on them. My good friend Kevin Mannarino, who lives in Denver, also has a recording studio. Since 1979 Kevin has recorded Lead guitar on several of my albums and when I invited him to do Lead guitar on "Grandfather Moon" he graciously accepted. I simply sent him the songs and in about 2 weeks he sent them back with his Lead guitar on them. The songs with Kevin's Lead guitar are My Future Seems, Grandfather Moon, I'll Never Love Again, I Can't Believe I'm Yours, I Found You, All I've Got Is Me, If I Didn't Have You, Marriage Seed and This Woman In Love With Me.

What'd I Even Come Here For

"What'd I Even Come Here For" was written by a good friend of mine who, along with being a really good songwriter, happens to also be a truck driver. This song reflects the feelings we have when we think about going back to the good ol' days. Then when we do go back to the place, or places, of your past we find that things aren't the way they were and can never be that way again. Inevitably we as ourselves, "What'd I Even Come Here For". Words & Music by Rich Green

Jerry Corelli

Will You Marry Me

The first wedding song I wrote was "Marriage Seed" and a few years later "Will You Marry Me" came along. It can be seen as a wedding song but I wrote it as a song of proposal. When I first began writing songs there was no VH1 or MTV and when you wrote a song you played your imaginary video to the song in your head. Now a days it seems many songs are written with the video first and then the words. This is the only song on "Grandfather Moon" that was fully recorded before the project and was mixed and added to the CD to fit with the other songs.

This Woman In Love With Me

In this song I wanted to describe the little things my wife does in our everyday romance that shows me how much in love we are. It may sound like, from the song, that she doesn't have a career. However, she does have a career and still finds time to show her love just like in the song.

So This Is How Love Feels

In this song I wanted to describe how love felt to me. My favorite line in the song is, "So this is how love feels, a never ending vineyard that begins with just one seed". I know that's how love is with me and my wife. I feel that our love continues to grow as we continue to discover new things about each other. Our love continues to grow like a never ending vineyard.

Marriage Seed

A few years ago I received a call from a bride to be who attended my church. She went to a later service than my wife and I so we hadn't met. However, she had been told that I sang one of my songs at a previous service, and since the soloist for her wedding had to cancel at the last minute, her mother suggested she should ask me to sing. When she called she suggested I sing the song I sang for the church. But since she'd never heard the song she couldn't now it wasn't really a song for a wedding. I then asked her if she didn't mind me writing a wedding song. Her response was to say the least surprised. "You could do that?" I recall her asking. After our phone conversation I went into the studio and in about an hour "Marriage Seed" was completed. It's been one of my favorites and the favorite of many listeners who hear my songs. If I Didn't Have You

One day I sat down and wrote out things that would not exist if they didn't have something else. For example, a sentence would not be a complete sentence if it didn't have a verb. A piano would not be a piano without keys or a guitar without strings. Or what would grass be, or look like, if it wasn't green? I then began thinking that is how I'd be without my wife "Liv". I'd be an opera singer who never sings. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

All I've Got Is Me

When I wrote this song I was first thinking of everything I could give a soulmate. When it finally came down to it I realized the only thing I could give was myself. The giving of one's self completely is more of an act of love than the giving of any material thing, or things.

I Found You

As a music Publisher I receive thousands of demos a year from songwriters. When "I Found You" came from Deborah Beraducci I heard something wonderful in the words that she had written. The song needed some tweaking so I asked Deborah if I could work on the song as a co-writer. She graciously agreed and it became the first song I recorded on "Grandfather Moon". I'll Never Love Again

Even as I was writing this song I knew somehow, somewhere I'd fall in love again. But at the moment I was writing this song I felt that love was never really going to come and stay in my life again. I think it's how most people feel just after a relationship ends. Words & Music by Jerry Corelli

Leave Me Alone

I had just ended a relationship and as it goes sometimes it's painful. A friend suggested we go out to a Karaoke bar and have fun. We hadn't been there more than 30 minutes and he spotted two women he thought would come over to our table. I wasn't looking to meet anyone so after he made his suggestion I thought to myself, "Leave me alone, just pretend that I'm not here." Instantly I grabbed a napkin and started writing the song. I wrote most of the song there at the bar and the finished it later.

JERRY CORELLI: Grandfather Moon

Grandfather Moon

My best friend Kevin Mannarino and I will from time to time send each other recorded letters. We've known each other since we were 13 years old, both have recording studios and send recorded letters, or videos instead of writing a letter. Anyway, awhile back I was thinking of a title called "Grandfather Moon" but didn't have any music or lyrical inspiration for the rest of the song. Then one day I get a recording from Kevin, along with lines and phrases for songs, and there it was, "There's a silence in the night,...". Kevin had ended the sentence with a different word but for me Grandfather Moon fit right there at the end. The song title had been sitting around for months but once I got that first line from Kevin it took an hour or so to finish the song. Thanks Kevin! Words & Music by Jerry Corelli & Kevin Mannarino

My Future Seems

I wrote this song after going through a divorce. It was beginning feel like I was predestined to live my life alone and without a soul mate to share it with. Writing songs like "My Future Seems" is therapeutic and helps me a great deal to bounce back into life. When I listen to the song I realize life's not over and there will come a day when I'll meet that special someone. Which I finally did, my wonderful wife Elizabeth "Liv".

I Can't Believe I'm Yours

Finally, the day came when the perfect woman walked into my life. I must say it was love at first site and deep down inside I knew she was my soul mate. This song was the last song written and recorded for "Grandfather Moon". I first began writing the song in my studio with the music first and for about a month I would work on it and revise it while I waited for the words to come. Then the day came when the words "I Can't Believe I'm Yours" came to mind and in a few days it was finished. For me, this song is in the top ten of all the songs I've written. This song is to and for my wife "Liv". Thank you for your inspiration, devotion and endless love. I truly can't believe I'm yours.

Passionate, Romance-Filled Easy-Listening CD!
author: RadioIndy.com

“Grandfather Moon” by Jerry Corelli is an upbeat, easy-listening CD bringing the strong talent of Jerry and his distinctive, baritone timbre. This CD is a work of well-crafted love songs, conveying the ups and downs of being in relationships through straight-forward, poetic lyricism. The depth of feeling Jerry is capable of putting into his music is best displayed on the somber, yet sincere ballad “I’ll Never Love Again.” Moreover, Jerry’s feeling of joy is contagious on the string-infused “I Can’t Believe I’m Yours.” The female background vocal arrangements on this tune do a great job of accentuating the lead vocals. Furthermore, “Marriage Seed” demonstrates the superb musicianship present on this CD through its graceful keyboard intro. What's more, the clarity of sound allows these tunes to shine in their true glory. Fans of passionate, easy-listening love songs will find great joy in these romance-filled tunes.

This CD will take you wherever your Heart is at this time, The strong feelings that I am sure inspired the writing comes to life with the warm rich vocals. It's nice for a change to hear tracks that are so different from each other instead of a CD that is boring from track to track. I will enjoy this CD again and again.
